The Not Impossible Plan is a simple policy to retire almost all fossil fuel use by 2060 with minimal increases in energy costs.

How? By taking 10% of what we spend on fossil energy and investing it in renewable energy projects will result in enough renewable energy by 2060 to displace almost all fossil energy. This money would be collected from fossil fuel companies at a rate of  $20/tonne fossil carbon dioxide levy and invested as 0% interest, 20 year term, loans in renewable energy projects that feed our current energy systems. Loans would be managed by a new entity – the National Renewable Energy Fund (NREF).

The result? This level of sustained investment in renewable energy would displace almost all fossil fuel energy by 2060, preventing runaway climate change while we still enjoy a modern lifestyle.
